Notable achievements for December 2017:
- Rehabilitation Services (DRS): The Vocational Rehabilitation Program assisted 119 clients in obtaining successful competitive employment. USOR also provided 42 benefits reports to social security recipients through the Utah Work Incentives Planning Services (UWIPS) program.
- Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI): On December 8, 2017, students participated in a tactile tour of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. The museum art pieces range from very modern to thousands of years old. Students were able to touch and experience some of the pieces of art. Afterward, current and former students along with staff presented and participated in a talent show. Talents included Native American dancing, poetry reading, and musical talents.
- Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH): DSDHH and the Hind Family, children of past community of the Deaf community, provided a Holiday event for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, their siblings and families. The event included a variety of games, crafts, face painting and a special visitor from Santa Claus that used American Sign Language to communicate. This event is held each year and hosted by the Hind Family in honor of their parents as a way to “give back” to the community and provide a barrier-free environment for families to enjoy the holiday season.
