USOR Performance Highlights for August 2017

Notable achievements for August 2017:

  • Rehabilitation Services (DRS): The Vocational Rehabilitation Program assisted 219 clients in obtaining successful competitive employment. USOR also provided 62 benefits reports to social security recipients through the Utah Work Incentives Planning Services (UWIPS) program.
  • Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI): DSBVI continues to develop positive working relationships with agencies throughout the state of Utah. On August 6, several DSBVI staff members met with administrators of the Veterans Administration to discuss services provided and how the two agencies can work together. Later in the month, staff from the Independent Living Centers of Logan, Price and St. George attended a workshop coordinated by DSBVI to discuss record keeping in the older blind program and how the agencies can share information and coordinate efforts.
  • Disability Determination Services (DDS): Four members of the management team attended the “High Performing Organizations Aren’t Created by Accident” conference Sept 7-8.
  • Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH)Southern Utah Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program and the Sound of Life Foundation partnered to provide free hearing assessments and hearing aids for Utah residents on the Navajo reservation in Bluff and Red Mesa, Utah. A total of 202 individuals were tested, and 146 hearing aids and 22 cell phone amplifiers were distributed to Navajo tribe members.

The monthly report is updated with data from two months prior from its release date. For example, the report released in October is updated with August’s data.
